Dental Hygiene Matters

Presenting at SaMi Pi Celebration
We had the incredible opportunity to speak at a SAMI (San Antonio Math Include) event to raise awareness about dental poverty. By sharing real stories and facts, we helped shine a light on how limited access to dental care impacts underserved communities—and how small acts, like education and hygiene kit distribution, can make a big difference.
We were honored to present our nonprofit at Sami’s Pi Celebration, an event dedicated to promoting strong education in math and inspiring students to excel. This gave us a unique opportunity to share our mission and the work we do at Dental Hygiene Matters with a diverse group of attendees. We engaged with families, educators, and students, explaining how oral health is connected to overall well-being and why dental poverty is an important issue to address. Our presentation helped raise awareness and sparked meaningful conversations about health and education.
Taking part in Sami’s initiative allowed us to connect our message with a broader community focused on learning and personal growth. While celebrating math education, we highlighted the importance of maintaining good dental habits as part of a healthy lifestyle. This collaboration showed how different areas of health and education can come together to support young people’s success. By participating in this event, we strengthened our nonprofit’s presence and built new relationships that will help us continue spreading awareness and making a positive impact.
